Atún, 12 years of love... and now in search of a last home

Its identity: Atún is an adorable little male mix born on March 15, 2014. He weighs between 5 and 6 kilos. He is vaccinated and will be sterilized on July 17, 2026. His test for leishmaniasis is pending. He has no known health problems.

Its history: Atún's story is particularly moving. For twelve years, he lived happily with his family, in an apartment where he was loved and pampered. But life has imposed a terrible ordeal on them.The family's granddaughter is suffering from leukemia and is hospitalized. His relatives now spend their days and nights by his side, unable to return to take care of Atún as he deserves.The decision to entrust him to the shelter was a huge heartbreak, but unfortunately they had no other solution.For Atún, everything changed overnight. He who had always known the warmth of a home now finds himself behind the gates of a refuge, without understanding why. This new life weighs heavily on him and he suffers a lot from this environment. He needs to find a house very quickly where he can end his life surrounded by love.

His character: Atún is a small dog of extreme kindness. Calm, affectionate and very clean, he loves the presence of his humans above all. After a few hours of concern when he arrived, he quickly placed his trust in the volunteers. All he is looking for now is a reassuring presence, a few quiet walks and a comfortable basket to rest in. Accustomed all his life to living as a unique dog, he appreciates peace and quiet above all. He does not seek conflict and simply prefers that his space be respected.

His agreements: Atún can live with other dogs or with cats as long as they are calm and do not constantly come to solicit him. When another animal becomes too intrusive, it growls simply to let it be understood that it wants to be quiet, without ever going any further.He is kind to children, as long as they are respectful of his age and his need for calm.

His daily life: Atún loves walks. As soon as he sees his leash, he regains all his joie de vivre and looks forward to going outside.He travels very well by car. He has always been used to living in an apartment, and is perfectly clean. When he stays in the shelter's trailer, he simply waits outside the door to ask to go out to relieve himself. He is a very well-behaved dog who already knows all the habits of family life.

The ideal family: Atún is looking for a quiet home where he can regain the serenity he has lost. It would be particularly happy as a single dog, but will also be able to cohabit with a discreet animal that respects its space.It will delight people looking for a peaceful, tender companion who is deeply attached to people. At 12 years old, Atún doesn't ask for much anymore. A warm house, a few walks, a lot of tenderness and a family that will allow him to forget the sadness of the refuge. After a lifetime spent in a loving home, he deserves more than anything to quickly find a home where he can live surrounded by affection. Offering Atún a happy retirement means offering a dignified end of life to a small dog who has never stopped loving humans.

He will be placed sterilized, vaccinated, identified and dewormed. Tests for Mediterranean diseases are negative but the test for leishmaniasis will be redone in the event of an adoption request and will then have to be redone once a year, as the disease is endemic in Spain and can take several years to be detectable.
